What Do You Get from Sign Language for Babies?

Who says the learning or teaching the sign language is only for the hearing impaired. There are actually a lot of benefits that you can gain from it. Here are just some of them:

1. You can teach your children how to communicate their needs and wants. Babies, for one, can be very difficult to understand sometimes. Their words could be a little bit difficult to comprehend. For instance, your baby wants milk. But because you couldn’t understand a single word he is saying, you mistakenly give him water. With sign language, even if your child may not know how to speak well at the moment, he can still let you know clearly what he truly needs or wants.

2. He learns to appreciate the language. Sign language is a beautiful language. You will be amazed by how hands can help people communicate with one another. What’s more, not a lot of people really know how to do it. Thus, a child who learns how to make the sign language will feel all the more special.

3. He can easily grasp new language. Because you’ve started teaching him at such a young age, by the time he grows up, he can only learn the dynamics of learning a new one. He wouldn’t have a hard time teaching himself how to speak French, Japanese, or any other language.

4. You can increase his IQ level. Intelligence can be innate, but it needs constant practice of the brain for such intelligence to grow and be nurtured. When you start teaching your babies how to do the sign language, you are already stimulating his brain, his sensory nerves. You can also integrate his brain development with body movements.

5. Sign language can decrease your frustration level. Does it feel like the communication you have with your baby is basically one way? You can get rid of that just by teaching your kids how to make the sign language. For example, a child at nine months may not know how to speak really well, but because both of you know how to make the sign language, you can find ways and means to understand each other.

6. It gives you a certain level of satisfaction. Wouldn’t it feel so great to know that you have succeeded in teaching your baby how to make the sign language? Indeed, sign language doesn’t only create a bond between you and the baby, but can also increase your satisfaction level.
