Dogs are very gracious creatures. It’s one of the reasons why they are called as man’s best friends. However, unlike humans where everything has a particular word related to them, these canine animals can only bark. If you aren’t paying attention or you basically don’t know how to interpret their movements or the sounds they are creating, your dog may end up frustrated or unresponsive to your commands.
It’s very important that you can learn how to watch out for the signals that the dog may be sending you. You may also have to teach yourself some signs that will allow you to communicate to your pet the most effective way possible.
1. Know what they want through their paws. There are a number of dogs that are so expressive with their feelings. They aren’t afraid to let you know what they really want through sign language. A common expression will involve the tapping of the paws on your body, perhaps on your leg or your arm.
Normally, if they want something, they will keep on repeating the gesture. What you need to do now is know where their eyes are going. The tapping can be a signal that they want to go out, drink some water, or want to eat a particular food.
2. Perhaps he needs some love from you. At some level, dogs can be like human beings. They would love to show their need of being loved through contact. Dogs that may require your special care or attention would often place their body closer to yours. By this time, all you need to do is to stroke their furs or show him how much you care for him.
3. Mind the pouncing. Dogs are very alert animals. Especially with proper training, you can utilize them to be the main guardians of your home. If they sense some danger, what they will usually do is to pounce harder with their paws. You need to be very vigilant on this one. This may mean that he wants you to pay attention to something extremely urgent or important. The best thing you need to do is to go out with him so both of you can inspect the surroundings of your home.
4. Your dog may want to play with you. How do you know if your dog loves to have some fun with you? Usually, he’ll play the material that you normally use when you’re going to play with him. This can be a ball, Frisbee, or a stick—it doesn’t really matter. Once he starts picking any of this up and approaches you, you know that he’s eager to spend enjoyable times with you. |
